Submissions in the new process are accepted starting today.
[Mesa, AZ] Brick Cave Media, a premiere publisher of science fiction, fantasy and poetry based in Mesa, AZ today announced a complete overhaul of the submission process authors use to submit manuscripts and work to the company for consideration of publication. In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the company decided to approach the acceptance of work differently.
“We have known for some time that we would need to change how we accept work. Certainly the current Pandemic situation provided some motivation to move that process forward more quickly.” shared Brick Cave PSE (Principle Support Executive) Bob Nelson. “It was important to us that we complete that work and roll it out prior to the start of the current submission period that was due to start in July.”
Under the new process, perspective authors may now submit digitally year round, with set response periods through the year based on the submission date of the manuscript. The process is entirely digital, with the author submitting a single Portable Document Format (PDF) file containing all of the elements of the submission.
“We worked hard internally to both tighten up and prepare our submission process to function year round as opposed to the single season we had in place previously.” Continues Bob, “We now will have the ongoing ability to track submissions from receipt to notification, and of course transition accepted submissions into our existing publication process.”
Brick Cave believes the new process will make it easier for authors to submit their work, and will save them the expense of materials and postage.
To support the process, Brick Cave has created a new Consolidated Brick Cave Submission Form. The simple but flexible web form will now allow submitter to send work for all of the opportunities Brick Cave Media has available, including the revamped Fictioneers program of the BC Book Club and The Box and First Words opportunities of the Brick Cave Podcast.
The organization has updated their guidelines to reflect the new process, and released those this morning at the website, brickcavemedia.com -> About -> Getting Published with Brick Cave.
