Class #4: Demystifying “Show, Don’t Tell”: Tools to Transform Showing to Telling (and When Not To) – Sharon Skinner
Thursday, March 19th 6:30pm-9:00pm
$40 class alone/ $31.25 if taken as a set
“Show, Don’t Tell” is an oft-repeated mantra in writing. We hear it over and over, but what we are really trying to get at is using imagery to evoke emotional engagement and to allow the reader to experience the story through descriptive words and phrases. Yet, overusing description and imagery and showing too much detail can tax the reader’s patience. This workshop will explore various methods and tools for Showing while putting Telling into its proper place and includes a series of hands-on exercises that will provide key ways to strengthen your writing and bring your stories and characters to life.
